It has more than thirty subsidiaries including listed companies, and over hundred of thousands employees.
Client's issues
Our client is in the sun-rising industry in China with healthy profits and brilliant prospect. However it met many management problems and strategic challenges on its growth path.
Our client lacked clear and overall strategy on its proposition. With the breaking of the monopolization in telecommunication industry and China 's entering WTO, there would be dramatic changes in the competitive environment in telecom industry. At this critical moment, the unclear strategy would put the company in a passive situation; and if there were a strategic mistake, the company would face a disaster.
Coming from a traditional state-owned enterprise and facing the foreign peers who bear extensive competitive experiences and advanced management systems, our client needed to identify the difference between itself and competitors. The client needed to improve the core competence, work out the effective competitive strategy, and allocate the necessary strategic assets in order to achieve the strategic objective.
